Compliance with the curricular requirements is verified by examining the graduate's academic record.
The above conditions are necessary but not sufficient for enrollment in the Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering for Design and Manufacturing. The Degree Programme’s Didactic Coordination Commission (CCD) will assess the academic background deemed necessary for successful attendance by analysing the student's curriculum in detail.
Admission requirements also include documented proficiency in at least one European Union language other than Italian, both in written and oral form, including discipline-specific terminology. In particular, since students must be able to use a European Union language fluently in addition to Italian to obtain the Master's Degree, the regulations require that the study plan includes a number of ECTS credits (CFU) for “Additional Language Skills” sufficient to ensure attainment of at least B2 level of the CEFR for students who do not already meet this requirement upon enrollment.
Procedures for access to the Degree Programme
Enrollment in the Master's Degree Programme is not permitted if the minimum curricular requirements specified above are not met. Having assessed the academic background necessary for successful attendance by analysing the student's curriculum in detail, the CCD may, with justification, identify equivalences for credits from academic subject areas (SSD) different from those listed above. The CCD will then establish how the student can complete the necessary curricular integration, to be selected—based on the extent and nature of the required integrations—among the following options:
- Curricular integrations to be completed prior to enrollment, pursuant to Art. 6(1) of the Ministerial Decree of 16 March 2007, by enrolling in individual course units offered by the University and passing the relevant exams. The regulations for enrolling in individual course units, pursuant to Art. 16(6) of the University Academic Regulations (RDA), are available at

- Enrollment in a Bachelor's Degree programme that grants automatic access to the Degree Programme (CdS), with a shortened programme and a Study Plan including the curricular integrations required for enrollment in the Master's Degree.
- Enrollment in the Master's Degree programme with a Study Plan that includes alignment paths, in accordance with Art. 6(3) of the Ministerial Decree of 16 March 2007, without additional ECTS credits (CFU).
Requirements for the adequacy of the student's personal preparation
Art. 6(2) of the Ministerial Decree of 16 March 2007 mandates verification of the adequacy of the student's personal preparation for admission to the Master's Degree programme. The Didactic Coordination Commission regulates the procedures for this verification, following guidelines uniformly established for all Master's Degree programmes in Engineering of the School of Polytechnic and Basic Sciences.
Students are exempt from this verification if the weighted average of the grades (out of 30) obtained in the exams for the qualifying Bachelor's degree is not less than 24.
Admission requests from students who do not meet the criteria for automatic admission will be reviewed by the CCD, which will decide, at its sole discretion, on the admissibility of the request and any requirements to be fulfilled for admission. The CCD may examine the applicant's curriculum, considering grades in core subjects or other courses deemed particularly relevant to successful completion of the Master's Degree, or arrange assessment methods (interviews, tests) to verify the adequacy of personal preparation, or adopt options 1 or 3 provided for curricular integrations.
The admission test consists of a questionnaire with 35 multiple-choice questions, randomly selected from a pool of 140. To ensure homogeneous coverage of the seven core areas of Mechanical Engineering (IIND-06/A, IIND-07/A, IIND-02/A, IIND-03/A, IIND-03/B, IIND-04/A, IIND-05/A), 5 questions are randomly drawn from 20 available for each area. The test is considered passed if the student answers at least 21 of the 35 questions correctly. The full pool of 140 questions can be consulted at the following link
