Guidelines for thesis
The bachelor’s degree thesis is a technical document written by students following guidelines that respect intellectual property (originality) and the environment (synthesis).
1. The thesis must not exceed 30 (thirty) pages in which the candidate reports the salient features of the case study assigned to them.
2. The thesis must be edited on a single column of an A4 page – front only. The text must be justified. The margins of the thesis are top 2.5, bottom 2.5, right 2.0, left 2.0 and binding 1.0.
3. We recommend using Times New Roman 12 pt for the text and 1.5 line spacing.
4. The chapter heading should always be written in Times New Roman 18 pt bold (CHAPTER 1).
5. Each paragraph should be numbered sequentially in Times New Roman 14 pt bold (1.1 Paragraph; the first number represents the chapter, while the second represents the paragraph in sequence: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc.).
6. Any subparagraphs should be written in Times New Roman 13 pt italic and indexed with three numbers 1.2.1 subparagraphs, with the first number indicating the chapter, the second paragraph in sequence and the third subparagraph in sequence.
7. Any figures included are indexed with a caption at the bottom of the figure itself in Times New Roman 11 pt, as in the example: Figure 1.1 - example of figure caption, where the first number indicates the chapter in which the figure appears, while the second indicates the sequential number of the figure.
8. Any formulas in the paper must be edited using Microsoft Equation. Only equations to which the text makes explicit reference need to be numbered. The reference number must be placed in brackets to the right of the formula. Within the text, any reference to the same formula must include the number to which the formula refers in brackets. The formula must also be written in Times New Roman 12.
9. Any tables included must be indexed with a caption at the top of the table in Times New Roman 11 pt, as in the example: Table 1.1 - example table caption, where the first number indicates the chapter in which the table appears, while the second indicates the table number in sequence.
10. Bibliographical references must be cited where they are mentioned in the text of the paper, indicating the surname of the first author and the year of publication in square brackets [de Gennaro, 2012], and in full at the end of the paper, listed in alphabetical order by author's surname, giving the surnames of all authors and their initials, the year of publication, the title of the article, the title of the journal, volume, issue, and number of pages: de Gennaro B., Gallo M, Lanzotti A. (2012) Method of preparing the thesis, Journal of Thesis Preparation, 3(2): 215-225. (Times New Roman 11 pt)
11. Websites should be cited in the same way.
12. The pages of the thesis should be numbered consecutively in the lower right-hand corner of each page.
