Linee guida per la stesura dell'elaborato di laurea
The thesis dissertation is a technical document prepared by students in accordance with the established guidelines, respecting the intellectual property and originality principles.
1. The thesis must be formatted as a single-column document on A4 paper, printed on one side only. The text must be justified. Page margins must be set as follows: top 2.5 cm, bottom 2.5 cm, right 2.0 cm, left 2.0 cm, and binding margin 1.0 cm.
2. It is recommended to use Times New Roman, 12 pt font for the main text, with 1.5 line spacing.
3. Chapter headings should be written in Times New Roman, 18 pt, bold (e.g., CHAP. 1).
4. Each paragraph must be numbered sequentially using Times New Roman, 14 pt, bold (e.g., 1.1 Paragraph). The first number indicates the chapter, while the second represents the sequential paragraph number (e.g., 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc.).
5. Subparagraph, if included, must be formatted in Times New Roman, 13 pt, italic, and numbered using three levels (e.g., 1.2.1 Subparagraph). The first number indicates the chapter, the second the paragraph, and the third the sequential subparagraph number
6. Any figures included must be captioned below the image in Times New Roman, 11 pt. Captions should follow this format: Figure 1.1 – Example figure caption, where the first number refers to the chapter and the second to the sequential number of the figure within that chapter.
7. Any equations included in the thesis must be created using Microsoft Equation. Only equations explicitly referenced in the text need to be numbered. The equation number should be placed in parentheses aligned to the right of the equation. Within the text, each reference to the equation must include its corresponding number in parentheses. Equations should be formatted using Times New Roman, 12 pt.
8. Tables must have a caption placed above the table itself in Times New Roman, 11 pt. Captions should follow this format: Table 1.1 – Example tabel caption, where the first number indicates the chapter and the second number indicates the table’s sequential position within that chapter.
9. References must be cited within the text using square brackets, indicating the surname of the first author and the year of publication (e.g., [de Gennaro, 2012]). A full bibliography must be included at the end of the document, arranged alphabetically by the authors’ surnames. Each reference should list all authors’ surnames followed by their initials, the year of publication, the article title, the journal title, volume, issue number, and number of pages, formatted as follows: de Gennaro B., Gallo M., Lanzotti A. (2012) Method for Preparing the Degree Paper, Journal of Thesis Preparation, 3(2): 215–225.
The bibliography should be formatted in Times New Roman, 11 pt.
10. Online sources (sitography) should be cited in the same manner as printed references.
11. Pages of the document must be numbered sequentially, with the page number positioned at the bottom right of each page.
