Admission requirements (art. 5 of Regolamento Didattico)
- The Technical Advisory Board defines the admission criteria and any enrolment procedure, in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
- The assessment of individual academic preparation is mandatory in all cases. Candidates meeting the curricular requirements have access to the assessment.
- The Technical Advisory Board verifies curricular requirements through the analysis of the student’s academic record. Enrolment in the Master’s Degree Programme is not permitted if the minimum curricular requirements are not met.
If the minimum requirements are not complied with, the Teaching Coordination Committee will assist the student by prescribing enrolment in specific courses offered by the University which must be successfully completed prior to the formal enrolment http://www.unina.it/-/5601348-iscrizione-ai-corsi-singoli.
With reference to the requirement of at least 18 CFU in the scientific subject areas IIND-06/A, IIND-06/B and IIND-07/A, the Technical Advisory Board may recognize equivalences for credits obtained in other subject areas, based on the contents of similar courses attended by the student, documented through official transcripts.
Students holding a bachelor’s degree in class L-9 or an equivalent qualification, but with fewer than 18 CFU in the IIND-06/A, IIND-06/B and IIND-07/A subject areas, will be admitted to the Technical Advisory Board with a recommendation to adopt an Individual Study Plan including a contents alignment path, without any increase in the total number of required CFUs.
Following the verification of curricular requirements, an assessment of the student’s individual academic preparation is also mandatory. This includes the evaluation of adequate language skills as well.
This assessment is managed by the Degree Programme’s Teaching Coordination Committee, in accordance with guidelines established uniformly for all Master’s Degree Programmes within the College of Engineering of the School of Polytechnic and Basic Sciences.
To this aim, the weighted average grade M based on the CFU credits of the courses and the marks (on 30-point scale) obtained in the exams required for the Bachelor’s Degree, granting access to the Master’s Programme, is computed. Academic preparation is considered adequate if M ≥ 24.
Students who do not meet this requirement must undertake a specific admission test.
The admission test consists of a questionnaire with 35 multiple-choice questions randomly selected from a pool of 140 questions covering topics relevant to the core areas of Mechanical Engineering:
IIND-06/A (ex ING-IND/08) - Macchine a Fluido
IIND-06/B (ex ING-IND/09) - Sistemi per l’Energia e l’Ambiente
IIND-07/A (ex ING-IND/10) - Fisica Tecnica Industriale
IIND-07/B (ex ING-IND/11) - Fisica Tecnica Ambientale
IMIS-01/A (ex ING-IND/12) - Misure Meccaniche e Termiche
IIND-02/A (ex ING-IND/13) - Meccanica Applicata alle Macchine
IIND-03/A (ex ING-IND/14) - Progettazione Meccanica e Costruzione Di Macchine
IIND-03/B (ex ING-IND/15) - Disegno e Metodi dell'ingegneria Industriale
IIND-04/A (ex ING-IND/16) - Tecnologie e Sistemi di Lavorazione
IIND-05/A (ex ING-IND/17) - Impianti Industriali Meccanici
Specifically, to ensure a balanced coverage of the above listed subject areas, 5 questions are randomly selected from 20 available questions for each area. The test is considered successfully passed if the student answers correctly at least 21 out of 35 questions.
Regarding the verification of language proficiency, students who have not obtained a degree taught in Italian or English, and who do not possess a certification or attestation of language proficiency in either language at a minimum B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), are required to demonstrate adequate comprehension and conversational skills in Italian or English through a proficiency test.
Furthermore, since fluency in a European Union language other than Italian is mandatory for obtaining the Master’s Degree, the programme includes in the curriculum a minimum of 3 CFU credits dedicated to acquiring “Additional Language Skills”, in English.
The achievement of such skills, at a minimum B2 level, will be certified according to procedures defined by the University Language Centre (cla.unina.it). Students who already hold an English certificate at B2 level or higher at the time of enrolment may apply for its recognition for the purpose of fulfilling the “Additional Language Skills” requirement, following procedures established by the University Language Centre.
