Course objectives:
Statistics for Technology is a methodological – applicative course whose aim is to train students on statistical tools used to control, develop and manage the innovation of product and manufacturing processes by means of, for example, the study of synergic interactions between control factors (such as the design factors) and noise factors (such as the environmental factors).

Tables of contents: 
Calculus of probability and its application in scientific and technological fields.Random variables. Experimental study of random variables. Parametric estimation. Tests of Hypotheses.
Monte Carlo method. Design of Experiments (DOE) and Analysis Of Variance (ANOVA). Robust Design and Innovation. Regression analysis.
Statistical Process Control. Control charts for variables and attributes. Process capability analysis. Acceptance sampling for attributes. The Operating Characteristic (OC) Curve. Producer's and consumer's risks.
Statistical experiments carried out in the classroom to test the effectiveness of the proposed methodologies.

Education method: 
Lectures, tutorials and seminars.

Assessment will be written and oral. Question are: numerical exercises. Individual written test and its oral discussion.
