Course objectives:
The aim of the course is to provide the basic knowledge about the mechanics of mechanisms and machines with reference to both: the kinematic aspects related to  motion transmission, and to the dynamic phenomena resulting from the operation of machines and groups  of machines.

Tables of contents:
CINEMATICS: Cinematic pairs, kinematic chains, mechanisms, articulated systems. Four-bar linkages. Reciprocating mechanisms. Cam mechanisms: Generalities - Synthesis and kinematic analysis.
DYNAMICS: Equivalent rigid systems, machine torque and power, regime operation conditions, the use of the kinetic energy theorem, mechanical characteristic curves of a machine, Dynamics of a rigid rotor.
BALANCING OF ROTATING ORGANS: static imbalance and dynamic imbalance, correction planes, balancing machine.
MECHANICAL VIBRATIONS: free and forced vibrations for a one degree of freedom system, the undamped and dumped cases; Free and forced undamped vibrations for a two degree of freedom system. Vibrations isolation.
CRITICAL SPEED: Flexural and torsional critical speeds.
POWER TRANSMISSION: Joints, Gears, Rotisms, Transmission Belts.

Lessons, numerical exercises, laboratory.
