The course, which is of fundamental importance to energy engineers, aims to develop knowledge about energy-efficient design of the building-plant system, also in view of economic and environmental sustainability. Basic knowledge of the building's thermophysic and air conditioning systems is provided, highlighting the technical-application aspects with particular attention to energy saving.

Lectures and exercises (including computer ones through specific software (REVIT, MC11300, etc.) for: i) the choice of the plant according to the building use and energy and economic aspects; (ii) the calculation of thermal loads, energy requirements and energy label of the building-plant system; iii) design and regulation of system components (thermo-refrigeration plant, working fluid distribution network, heat exchange units, etc.).

Assessment will be written and oral. Development of a the building-plant system design through suitable software.
