The course provides theoretical and practical basics for dealing with analytical and metrological problems in noise control.

Basic acoustical quantities. Sound in fluids:the wave equation andmathematical models of sound wave. Development and application of devices for the measurement and analysis of acoustic signals and systems.Metrological descriptors for acoustics. The human ear. Psychoacoustic elements for the analysis of industrial products noiseand sound design in the automotive field. Measurement of sounds and vibrations. Determination and measurement of sound power levels and directivity of noise source. Sound absorbing materials and sound absorbers. Sound in enclosed spaces: acoustical natural frequencies and modes, reverberation and steady-state energy of diffuse sound fields. Signal processing for auralization. Analysis and design of noise control systems. Interactions of sound waves with solid structures. Structure-borne sound. Noise of gas flows. Brief overview on standards.
